Hi!

My name is Michael, and I am a classically-trained pianist who teaches piano in northern West Bloomfield, Commerce, and surrounding locations. I have over two decades of piano teaching experience, and I am a patient, caring, and knowledgeable instructor.

While I primarily travel to students' homes, I also teach in my studio and offer remote lessons through platforms such as FaceTime or Zoom.

I hold a variety of degrees in different academic areas, which means that I am articulate and worldly. Students often joke about learning new words or acquiring interesting information on a variety of topics during lessons.

Regarding music, I have a Bachelor of Arts in music with a focus on piano performance from Oakland University. During my time as a music student I studied piano with a variety of instructors including Flavio Varani and Mary Siciliano. Because each instructor approached piano playing differently, I am aware of different ways of conveying concepts/addressing technical issues.

In addition to the piano, I play acoustic guitar and the tin whistle (an instrument used for traditional Irish music). I am also a singer/songwriter. In 2009, I placed as a "runner up" in the "Song of the Year" contest, an international songwriting competition sponsored by VH-1. Several of my songs have been featured on local radio.

In my spare time, I enjoy practicing my various instruments, recording and producing my original music, studying American history, hiking, and spending time with my partner and her adorable cat.
